Modalities & Techniques
Included below are brief descriptions of the different modalities and techniques I offer in my practice. I'll use a combination of these approaches depending on your interest and comfort level, coupled with what your concerns or issues call for. (For more information about my primary approaches, click the "more details" link included after some of the descriptions.)
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems is the primary approach I use during all of my sessions, since it's one of the most effective therapeutic approaches I've found. IFS combines self-compassion and inner dialogue to work with our Core Self and inner "parts" for transformational healing. More details.
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a somatic trauma resolution approach that works with tracking sensations in the body and following movement impulses to release and resolve trauma held in the body and nervous system. More details.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting works with your visual field to access emotional issues and trauma held in the subcortical areas of your brain and body for deep and efficient resolution of challenging feelings and patterns. More details.
Attachment Repatterning
Diane Poole Heller's "Dynamic Attachment Repatterning" provides an effective way to explore your early attachment patterns and learn how they're impacting your present day life and relationships. It also offers tools and techniques to heal your early attachment wounding so you can move towards more secure attachment. More details.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy & Polarity Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy & Polarity Therapy are gentle yet powerful forms of hands-on bodywork that work with the energies of your body to address the underlying energetic patterns of your concerns. They also are effective at supporting nervous system regulation and somatic trauma resolution. More details.
Guided Visualization and Imagery
Uses the power of visualization and imagery to connect with your inner self and to focus healing energy. Visualization and imagery are effective ways to engage the healing power of the mind.
Movement and Sound
Enables you to connect with and shift issues and energies that may otherwise be hard to access. Specific exercises may be used in session or done at home to support your on-going process.
Awareness and Mindfulness
Increases your ability to recognize and acknowledge, with kindness and compassion, what is really happening for you in the moment—with your self, your life, your concerns, or your symptoms.
Resource building
Helps you reconnect with and build on the strength, wisdom, health, and deep healing resources that are an inherent part of your whole being. Includes work with grounding, centering, and boundaries.
Other Integrative Approaches
A variety of other holistic therapeutic approaches may be brought into sessions depending on client preference and focus, including Inner Relationship Focusing, Comprehensive Resource Model, EFT meridian tapping, Family Constellations (more details), and the creative expression of InterPlay (more details).

What to Expect from a Session
A session may contain one or more of the above components, and may be done sitting in a chair, moving around the room, or lying fully clothed on a bodywork table. We move fluidly between the different components as needed, and each session is unique. The emphasis is on listening to you, honoring your whole being, and working together to explore what you wish to address. In addition, you will learn concrete skills that you can use at home to continue your process of growth and self-discovery.
